Non-Target Rising Sophomore, Fall Intern Resume

Hey WSO,

This is my first post to this site, and I'm quite new. I've been reading for some time now but I decided to join the community, because of things like this. This is a really cool thing you guys do for us newbies, and I'd really appreciate the help/advice you could offer.

I'm a rising sophomore, who already has internships for this summer, and I'm looking to show you my resume which I'll use to apply for fall/spring internships that I can do while enrolled in school. My school/state can be figured out pretty fast I imagine from some of the information posted, I hope it's not too obvious.

I'm from a non-target, I'm really driven, and I really want to become an i-banker. I want to say thanks to this site in general and anyone who helps me, because coming from a non-target, the infrastructure to success isn't there, and it's because of places like this that people can find the information they need.

Attached is the resume.

Glad to help a fellow non-target rising sophomore. Here are my recommendations:

  • Add relevant coursework (i.e. relevant classes you have taken at your school).
  • Instead of putting USA for location, use the "City, State" format. Make sure to keep this uniform across the whole resume.
  • List your honors in a list and separated by commas. Use the extra space generated to add more bullet points in your experience section. If you co-founded a company, that is something interesting that deserves more than two bullet points.
  • On your interests section, keep the tense the same for all interests. So the correct way of listing them would be: Cooking, Playing Poker, Skydiving, Traveling, Writing
  • Try to add more interests to fill a whole line without going on to a second line.

Thanks for the help Henry! Can I pm you regarding your details? I would like to know more about you/your situation if you are ok with it, since it appears that we're in the same boat.

  • I will definitely add relevant coursework, problem is, I just finished my freshman year, and so, I haven't taken any worthwhile classes yet
  • I do have the "city, country" format in my real resume, I have just amended that to "USA" for the sake of privacy here
  • I'll amend the honors section, thanks for the note. Do you think that "co-founding" a company is seen as pretentious/egotistical? I've seen a lot of comments where people who read resumes pretty much laugh at the "co-founder/manger of fund/adviser to" type comments since they are coming from undergrads with relatively little work experience? Hopefully, my company will be the exception, the launch is coming in July, but I think we will do 100k in revenue this year, which is in my opinion, large enough to be put on a resume. What do you think?
  • Tenses, haha, the little things. I will change that for sure

Appreciate it!

This isn't a critique, but is more of a question that your resume raised in my mind: do people actually care about the Eagle Scout Award?

I have no idea, but do you have a critique/can you please critique my resume? I'm really looking for all of the advice I can get. I put Eagle Scout because it doesn't really require any further explanation, and I would like to think speaks to my character/work ethic, but as you say, I have no idea how valuable it is/whether it is afforded any legitimacy anymore.
