Semi-Target state school Resume Review

Hey guys, I am currently a senior at a Semi-Target state school who has had a lot of trouble finding a job. Currently waiting to hear back from a place but I have also begun looking for internships and networking to boutiques in hope of finding something

I have posted my resume http://www.razume.com/documents/18277

any feedback would be awesome.

Thanks in advance.

In the information above your resume, your salary desired is 100-110k. Is this a mistake? If not, it might explain why you are having trouble finding a job. Coming out of Rutgers, that is a pretty high estimate. Do you have any other activities? Your leadership roles appear to weak. I think your work experience and academics are great. Good luck.

When you are great, people will often mistake candor for arrogance.

that 100-110 K is a mistake (i think i just clicked random stuff). And ya my leadership is on the weak side, I was lazy earlier in my college career in all aspects but I have picked it up. Currently i'm just looking for experience in order to get something good.

I was curious about that... you just put interests and left it blank... kind of weird. Also weird that you blacked out Rutgers on your resume but then selected Rutgers in the information section above it. Do you actually attend Rutgers or just a university of similar calibur? There are some Rutgers alumni on the street (sparse but they are there), I would recommend reaching out to any finance/econ professors to see if they can put you into contact with the appropriate contacts. Also, you should narrow down your search so that you can determine where to focus your efforts (i.e. do you want to be in S&T? banking? equity research? etc...) so that you don't waste time searching for careers that are irrelevant to your interests. Hope the job search improves for you. The resume is ok, but your profile doesn't really "jump out" at people. This isn't a bad thing (I wasn't overwhelmingly impressive on paper either) it just means that you are really going to have to put in additional effort to get in front of people so that they can hear your story. Check out M&I for a solid resume template-- I recommend ditching your current format for his as yours is not aesthetically pleasing-- and a great article on how to tell your story.

ya the formatting is messed up a bit and the interests section got cut off. But ya currently I am looking at all spectrums but you are correct it is better to narrow down. This is why I am gonna look for internships right now to narrow my focus. Currently I am focused into looking at banking.

why didn't you apply to the rutgers business school? I'm from NJ, so a lot of my HS friends go to RU. From what I saw on their job board, they have a good amount of job postings on campus(seems like more BB recruit there than my school. It may be because of the convenience).

I am going to go ahead and ask the same question as the person above. If you have a 3.58, why didn't you apply to RBS? Also, did you attempt to get a SA position last summer through career knight? How about full time recruiting this year through career knight? Not criticizing you or your resume, but a lot of people at Rutgers do not take advantage of career knight and miss out on some great opportunities. Also, just wondering, how come you never joined LIBOR? Overall your resume is pretty solid. I find it extremely hard to believe you were not able to land one interview if you went through career knight. Keep looking, and network aggressively. Although it may be too late to find something in BB, with the proper networking you can still land something at a Boutique.
