Bocconi Global MFIN (New) vs HEC MIF (Famous) – Which One Wins for IB in EMEA?

Hi everyone,

I'm choosing between two MSc Finance programs and would love advice, especially from anyone with IB recruiting or alumni experience.

Profile:

  • International europe student (fluent English + home language, no French/Italian)
  • Internship experience:
    • Boutique M&A IB
    • Private Equity at a small regional fund

Goal:

  • Break into IB in English-speaking EMEA markets (London, Middle East)

Programs:

  • Bocconi MSc Finance – Global Experience Track (new program, first year, big hype, not admitted yet but with good GMAT 94th percentile I hope I will get in)
  • HEC Paris Master in International Finance (MIF), Admitted

Questions:

  • Which program places better into IB M&A for international (non-local) students?
  • Is Bocconi’s new Global Experience track too risky since it's just launching?

Thanks again for your detailed reply, it really gives me a much clearer picture of how both programs are viewed in practice. I might be overestimating this, but from what I’ve seen on Bocconi’s website, the Global Experience track seems to offer some added support that wasn’t as present in the traditional MSc Finance, like one-on-one mentoring, mock interviews, and exclusive events for GE students.

That’s why I got the impression that the GE track could offer a stronger balance between academics and career prep, especially for non-Italian students targeting London. From your experience, do you think this kind of extra support actually sounds promising, and if so, do you believe it can make a real difference for IB outcomes?
