EB Target Schools

Didn't manage to find a thread, dedicated to EB target schools list. I have a feeling that it would be nice if we could create a thread, specifically dedicated to EB target schools. Obviously Ivies would be there, however, definitely that's not all. Thanks a lot to everyone who contributes to this thread!!! Best of luck.

If you’re still talking EVR, that’s just wrong. I did forget to include Michigan on the target list, but Stanford and Georgetown are semi-targets, and Duke and UVA are considered non-targets (although UVA is a special situation). Georgetown was a target in prior years, but too many summer analysts left for PE so it got downgraded to semi-target. Same situation for UVA with 3/4 interns leaving for PE a couple summers ago, and as a result going from target to a non-target technically (there’s an official internal roster with how schools are designated), but there’s enough presence to still get kids internally referred in.

The EVR non-target situation is weird. If a school isn’t on the target or semi-target list, resumes from that school will not be reviewed - only way in is through networking / an internal push. The EVR non-target list as a result includes schools like Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Dartmouth. People still get into EVR from those schools, but your resume is not going to be randomly picked from the pile; you have to have an in.

the LinkedIn numbers can be deceiving. I’m specifically discussing in the context of NY M&A summer analyst recruitment, which doesn’t factor in the MBA associates who went somewhere for undergrad but only got recruited into EVR through a target MBA program. With UVA, a lot of senior folks and associates who went to UVA for ugrad, then got recruited into EVR via Darden or another MBA program

If you do well and network from any top 30 school, and ideally with a business major, but not necessary, you have a decent chance at getting interviews.

Largely up to the individuals rather than the school from what I’ve seen

can confirm, and crazy that you can go to harvard or something and still be lumped into non-target recruiting

Generally Georgetown, UVA, Emory, and UT Austin(UT is extremely large so it’s still a pretty small percent) so I would say the first 3 have very high success at EB. Emory has always sent a disproportionate amount of its class to EBs for some reason. Used to not be super strong for BB idk these days though.
