How hard is it to get into Stern as an NYU student?

I am a HS junior thinking up my career path. I have a good shot of getting into NYU's CAS /liberal studies department but will absolutely get rejected from Stern if I direct-apply. My plan is to stay in CAS/liberal studies for a year or two and then apply to Stern. Would this work? Is it more complicated than I think? Can someone from NYU offer me any insight into this? Thanks.

PS: I'm aware it's too early to set myself on a career path but this is hypothetical.

I can actually answer this directly from personal experience.

Came into NYU from waitlist and was put into Liberal Studies Core program, me and a few others in the program successfully transferred into Stern. It's a relatively straightforward process and there's WAY less random chance involved like in regular admissions; you have to complete a certain number of prerequisites in econ and calc, maintain a strong GPA (which is pretty easy in LS) and you have to show a passion for finance and the like. If you grind hard enough you can quite easily make the transition.
