MSc Economic History

I got an offer to study LSE MSc Economic History in 2012.

But I want to go to investment bank. I wonder whether IB recruiters would think econ hist is not suitable for a IB career.

If MSc Law & Accounting or MSc Statisitcs would do me a favour ?

Appreciate for your comments.

Interested in this as well. I've heard at LSE all the MSC programs get recruited so it doesn't matter much, but i'm interested to hear what others have to say.

Sounds like a fun thing to study. I would guess recruitment is about equal to a masters in math or statistics, though obviously different roles. Somewhat relevant degree, good school, ...

You need to have an internship to have much of a chance of getting a grad role. I did the Msc Eco Hist at LSE last year, did an internship at a BB over the summer and started straight away on the grad scheme this year. There were two kids that did the Finance MSc at LSE on the internship, they did not have internship experience so struggled for interviews everywhere. The current market is ultra competitive so you should apply for internships this year explicitly stating that you have been accepted for a masters at LSE, get the job or apply to grad schemes through fast track during the internship.

HR at my place are also very explicit in that they are looking to expand beyond the typical economics/maths kids and are looking at the more humanities side of things, in my view eco hist is the perfect marriage of the two.

That means I should apply once I arrived in London in Sep/Oct, or even before beginning my study ? Any specific skills that may help to land an internship interview ? besides, "BB" = ?

Many thanks to your advice.
