Undergrad: NYU Stern vs. Cornell A&S Econ
Hey everyone just finished with the college app process and am pretty satisfied with my results. I know these kinds of posts are generally frowned upon but I'm pretty lost and would appreciate some guidance on which school to choose. I'm very interested in finance and want to head into IB after graduating. In terms of prestige/job placement which school is better for me? (Costs are negligible as similar at both schools)
Stern and Cornell are pretty much peer schools. Both are prestigious, both have good placement, and the quality of students will roughly be the same. Pick based on fit (NYC v Ithaca, campus v no-campus...) and on whether you’d rather have a practical education vs a more theoretical one.
Echoing what was said before me, Cornell Econ and NYU Stern are relatively equal in prestige/reputation so don't pick based on that. One thing to consider is the fact that while Cornell as a whole is a target, recruiting will be different/better for Dyson/SHA than A&S econ as opposed to Stern where it receives most of the recruiting opportunities. I would pick based on fit/where you are in a position to best succeed over the next four years; however, I will say that Stern will have a little bit better job prospects than A&S Econ simply due to its location. You can't go wrong with wherever you choose.
I would say the placement is similar (very strong at both schools), but Cornell is definitely more prestigious (especially considering it’s A&S) if you care about shit like that. The whole Ivy thing doesn’t hurt when it comes to prestige.
Hi when u refer to A&S do you mean AEM because I didn't apply for that. I think A&S is Cornell's Arts and Sciences.
I’m aware. FYI Dyson is a tiny program and isn’t why Cornell has such strong placement across all top firms. A&S is strong and places well.
Cornell Econ is pretty difficult, which I would consider. But they both have good recruiting so go by fit.
