uni choices for ib
hello, iam currently in upper 6th (senior year for americans) and iam applying to uni this year. i have a few options in mind for my uni picks:
uk - lse finance or politics+economics, warwick intl management, cass banking and intl finance, ucl intl management and the last choice is tbd
us - nyu stern bpe, smu cox, notre dame mendoza
australia - usydney, monash, umelb, uadelaide and unsw
hk - hku ampb, hkust global business, city u global business
singapore - nus dual bba/llb
europe - ie dual bba/llb, erasmus intl business administration, leiden den haag economics, essec business
stats: AAAB predicted grades (business, math, politics and sociology) hk permanent resident and dual US and qatari citizen, also hold hksar passport 1340 sat score my girlfriend lives in australia so i would want to be close to her but still maximise my chances at ib
is money an issue?
if not you need to expand your us school list being a US citizen. include some west coast targets like USC/UCLA and other strong schools like vandy etc
yes it is
If money is an issue, then I don't know how feasible the Australian options are going to be. They generally charge A$40-50k (about US$25-30k) p.a. for international undergrads and most scholarships that I have seen are domestic student-only. Add in living expenses and rent, and it gets very expensive.
The other factor is internships in Australia. Most banks will only offer internships for permanent residents or citizens due to employment laws so there's a chance that you won't be eligible.
Agree with expand usa options.
Europe IE not sure of this program, erasmus AND rsm. Never seen leiden come up before. Bocconi? -> WBB could be an option. That being said EU schools don't make much sense given your citizenship situation.
With all due respect to a beautiful little town and fun (Dutch) student culture, Leiden is not the move considering OP’s objectives
Stern sounds like a solid choice. Then LSE.
IE brand is not high enough in London / NY.
Erasmus is good value for money
erasmus my cousin attends
also don’t wanna live in london or nyc. dubai is the ideal place. if dubai fails, singapore is 2nd choice
erasmus has probably the best value for money. But ofc LSE or a US school has a better brand name which helps in London/NYC
i don’t wanna live in london or nyc after graduation. my aim is dubai, if that fails, then singapore
Ah then Erasmus can do the trick ;)
Brother you can’t prioritize IB and then be close to gf and then go to same school as cousin.
At this point, you either choose career or relationships. And I tell you relationships at this age mean nothing in the long term. You will always regret not choosing your career at an young age at least.
If dubai is your desired place to be, bite the bullet and go to a UK target school (ie. LSE). You can pair that with a target EU/UK masters if needed, for example french masters feed into Dubai regularly
French masters don't feed for Dubai as targets lol (except HEC Paris because of its global prestige)
