Where does LBS place in US rankings?
Hi all, where would you say LBS is in terms of general name/prestige among US schools?
I'd say at the lower end of M7. Is this reasonable?
And does the picture change if I say London only? (As desired place to work and live)
Would you choose let's say Tuck or Haas or even duke/yale over lbs?

LBS is the best MBA program in the world if your goal is to work in London, no question. If your goal is to work in the US after, then it is probably on par with the lower M7 like you said. Definitely better than Duke or Yale but comparable to Haas (but Haas would obviously be much better if your goal is to work in SF.)
Haas isn't an M7, those would be Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, Booth, Kellogg, CBS and Sloan. Haas and Fuqua are peer schools, so I'm not sure how something could be comparable to Haas and not to Fuqua.
Honestly, in the US, I wouldn't place it on par with the M7. I think that's over valuing the brand equity LBS has in the US and the alumni base here is not great (especially for banking). I would absolutely attend Tuck or and M7 over LBS if you want to work in the US. If you want to be in europe, go to LBS, it's fantastic there.
It is comparable to lower end of M7 (the placement stats are very similar to Booth / CBS). I chose LBS over Wharton & Booth and a lot of my classmates also made similar choice. The school name, reputation and network isn't going to hold you back , but being on the other side of the pond does make things a bit trickier for post-mba jobs that require a lot of networking.
Agree. if you do LBS and want a U.S. job, I hear a lot of them do study abroads with Booth or Kellogg (I forgot which)
Agreed, and I would probably put INSEAD in a similar position.
And what if I want to make the finance --> tech move? Obviously, Haas would be great at tech placement. Is London or Tuck any good? (or even better than LBS)
It is to London and Europe what NYU Stern and Columbia, if they were averaged into one school, are to New York and the East Coast.

London School of Economics is very good, dunno about LBS.
From what I've heard, LSE > LBS. They're both part of the University of London, but it seems like all the colleges that fall under the University are treated as individual schools. I guess it's because the school system is just huge.
This is incorrect. LSE and universities like UCL and Kings are all part of ULU but LBS is it's own school and only offers post graduate studies. They all fall under the ULU umbrella because historically they all had a specific focus (Imperial = Science, LSE = Econ and Politics etc) but for organisational purposes they merged to have one admin etc.
LSE doesn't have an MBA program.
LBS is by far the most respected MBA in Europe and has a strong reputation in the US.
LSE only has masters programs in finance and management
INSEAD and IMD are decent as well
INSEAD is as good as, if not better than LBS in Europe.

Richmond College, The American International University of London, is the most prestigious school in Europe.
Most of the students are spelling bee champions and most of the professors are rocket scientists (irrespective to what subject they teach).
