2022 SA Offer in Jeapordy. Please Help!

My upcoming 2022 SA in NYC seems no longer possible. Long story short, I have clicked the "need sponsorship" button in my application and now HR recently told me the company cannot support me in obtaining a J1 visa. You can imagine I am really sad - my entire year is wasted and finding another job is impossible.

What can I do now? Should I just move on and stop attempting to salvage the situation?

(junior Canadian student and BB S&T btw).

idk what that means. But like I have said, I have indicated I need sponosorhip in the application and my Canadian citzenship. I cannot remember if I stated explicitly for J1, probably

I’m so sorry that happened to you. Seems like this is a common occurrence across all firms when a recession comes. I legit just saw people get their offers rescinded for indicating sponsorship. I think the best you can do rn is to reach out to your closest contact on the team and ask for their help in the process. I bet your firm has enough resources for the sponsorship. Maybe HR has just decided to cut you.

Even with that, I think it’s still beneficial to reach out to your team for additional help. If that doesn’t work, then I think you should ask HR if they can transfer u internally to some locations around the world (maybe even in Canada) so that u don’t need to have sponsorship

If the offer was made based on your application, and your application indicated you needed visa sponsorship, then this seems to be a HR goof up. But I find it strange that a BB will not sponsor a visa. You may want to reach out to the S&T group, and not go just by what HR said. You also could ask if they are willing to let you work remote for the US team.
