GS Women's Trader Academy - AC

Does anyone know what the structure/qs of the (UK) GS Women's Trader Academy AC are like? How many interviews are there? and is it mostly fit or technical, and what should I prep?

I am new to WSO and finance as a whole so any help is greatly appreciated - even if its from people who haven't done the trader academy but may have done GS S&T Summer ACs/Superdays :)

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to know about preparing for the GS Women's Trader Academy Assessment Center (AC):

  1. Interview Structure:

    • Typically, you can expect multiple rounds of interviews. This might include a combination of telephone interviews, video interviews, and face-to-face interviews.
    • The structure often includes an Assessment Center (AC), which may involve group exercises, individual tasks, and multiple interview rounds.
  2. Types of Questions:

    • Fit Questions: These are crucial and will likely form a significant part of the interview process. Fit questions assess whether you have the "trader mindset," your ability to make quick decisions, think on your feet, your risk tolerance, and how well you manage risk. They also evaluate how well you fit in with the team and the company culture.
    • Technical Questions: While fit questions are essential, technical questions are also important to differentiate candidates. You should be prepared to demonstrate your understanding of markets, financial instruments, and possibly some basic quantitative skills.
  3. Preparation Tips:

    • Fit Interview Guide: Review the WSO Fit Interview Guide to prepare for fit questions. Reflect on your resume and be ready to discuss your experiences in a way that tells an interesting story.
    • Technical Knowledge: Brush up on your technical knowledge, especially if you have a background in computer science or other relevant skills. Demonstrating passion and a solid understanding of technical concepts can set you apart.
    • Trader Mindset: Practice thinking quickly and making decisions under pressure. Follow the markets closely and be prepared to discuss recent trends and your opinions on them.
  4. General Advice:

    • Control the Interview: Remember Rule #7 from the Sales & Trading Interview Guide - Control the Interview. Be proactive in steering the conversation to highlight your strengths and experiences.
    • Practice: Engage in mock interviews and practice common interview questions to build confidence and improve your responses.

Hey yes I did! It was 3 back to back 30 min interviews, one was technical, one behavioural, and one was this odd one-on-one market making game. They might have changed it though as this was last year when the academy was still only the women’s trader academy!

Wow congratulations that’s amazing!! That’s what I’m also hoping for , I got an offer for the 2026 trader academy. Would you at all mind sharing what you did to be able to convert if that’s possible? How long after the trader academy did you have the assessment centre. Also would uou mind sharing what activities you might’ve done during the day. Again congratulations and thank you so much for replying:))

Hey just to check do you mean you got an offer for the 2025 academy? Just because the 2026 one seems kinda far away unless they’ve completely changed the process (mine was in October of 2024).

Our ACs for the WTA in 2024 were all virtual and took place 2 weeks after the academy. They gave us two case studies to prep for the technical interview and then during that interview we had to explain our trade ideas (rationale, risks, thesis etc) for the two cases. After presenting the ideas to the interviewer they asked a bunch of follow up questions and it was just a matter of defending your stance + reasoning through their questions.

Most of my prep was centred around these two trade ideas. For behavioural just prepped the classic competency questions. For the one-on-one market-making trading game I’m ngl I just winged it.

During the days (for us it was two) I just asked a bunch of questions and tried to be as engaged as possible, nothing in particular really!

Hi so I saw your reply about converting into a full time role!! That’s absolutely amazing you must be so proud of yourself. Wso is being kinda annoying when it comes to letting me reply to things, I can’t pm you would I be able to connect with you on LinkedIn perhaps? :)

Anyone know how many of the spots for the summer are reserved for people from the academy? I just applied for the summer normally in august and wannna know if I’m cooked

Hello and thank you for sharing the insights! This is super helpful! I also got an offer to the trader academy this year. I am wondering if everyone who attends the academy would be fast-tracked to AC or it is selective? Wondering if I still need to apply to GS in normal rounds....
