Right now it does not look as if there is a thread going regarding 2019 Summer SA positions specifically targeted at current sophomores so I intend for this thread to serve as a tool for all of us regarding this. Down below are the programs currently open to those graduating in 2021 that I have found thus far at the BBs:

BAML

  1. Global Banking & Markets Sophomore Summer Analyst Program - Deadline: September 8th
    https://campus.bankofamerica.com/careers/Global-Ba...

This one includes a variety of different positions including: IB, S&T, Corp banking, capital markets, etc. Pick from whichever one suits you the most. The GPA requirement varies by the specific position you apply for, whic will be either a 3.2 or 3.5 minimum preferred.

Citi
1. Sophomore Leadership Program, Summer Analyst - Deadline: doesn't state, but assuming sometime in the fall as it just opened about a month ago.

https://jobs.citi.com/job/new-york/sophomore-leade...
3.3 minimum GPA

Credit Suisse

  1. 2019 Investment Banking Sophomore Diversity Summer Analyst Program - Deadline: Fall 2018

Self -explanatory and is a diversity one. Link is https://credit-suisse.tal.net/vx/lang-en-GB/mobile...

  1. 2019 Global Markets Sophomore Diversity Summer Analyst Program - Deadline - Fall

Similar to previous one. Diversity only. LInk is https://credit-suisse.tal.net/vx/lang-en-GB/mobile...
Goldman Sachs
1. Summer Analyst Internship

https://www.goldmansachs.com/careers/students/prog...
While it doesn't explicitly state that it is open to sophomores, it does state the following with regards to eligibility: The summer analyst role is for candidates currently pursuing a college or university degree and is usually undertaken during the second year of study.. Take that however you please. Will most likely be wicked hard as sophomores to get it but I encourage all to apply. Doesn't hurt.

Doesn't state deadlines, however includes the following application periods instead, with decisions coming out after each application period.

Application Periods:
- Period 1: July 1 to Sep 15, 2018
- Period 2: Sep 16 to Nov 15, 2018
- Period 3: Nov 16 to Dec 15, 2018

J.P. Morgan
1. 2019 Corporate & Investment Bank Investment Banking Summer Analyst Program - Deadline: September 2nd

https://jpmchase.taleo.net/careersection/10140/job...
3.2 minimum GPA

Morgan Stanley
1. 2019 Sophomore Summer Analyst Program - Deadline: September 5th

This one is diversity specific but I wanted to throw this one in here in case any diversity applicants are looking for diversity specific programs. 3.0 minimum GPA.

https://morganstanley.tal.net/vx/mobile-0/brand-0/...
Still looking around for more internships targeted at our class and will keep this thread updated. If some of the older guys on the site could provide some insights into this programs, the application process, etc that would be great! PM me if you have any questions.

Similar situation here. I highly doubt you are late to the game for sophomores considering most of the sophomore apps opened up in the last month and I've only received hirevues at the most for some.

Aug 2, 2018

Interesting. I just didn't think it started this early/apps had already opened. Should've done greater due diligence with regards to that.

Aug 2, 2018

where have you heard back from? are you diversity?

Aug 2, 2018

Non-diversity and non-ivy target. Only gotten the hirevue for MS and JP a while back. Nothing else.

Aug 2, 2018

There is one for DB and CS as well!

Aug 2, 2018

Ah I see Credit Suisse. Nothing for DB though.

Aug 2, 2018

I don't see anything for DB?

Aug 2, 2018

Application hasn't been posted. It comes out late July/early August. It is called DB Achieve. I went to their insight days during spring. CS's program application date is 8/5 and is called Steps to Success.

Aug 2, 2018

Thanks for the info bro. These early deadlines are giving me crazy anxiety.

Aug 2, 2018

Agreed! Insane how things are moving so quickly.

Aug 2, 2018

Is MS 100% diversity??

Aug 2, 2018

As far as I am aware of, yes. At least for sophomores (2021)

Aug 2, 2018

I heard JPM markets for soph SAs are completely filled up already. Opps are going out quick

Aug 2, 2018

Guess my hirevue from two months ago just sucked then...

Aug 2, 2018

did you get hirevue from MS?

Aug 3, 2018

Yes, about a month ago

Aug 2, 2018

Would I automatically get declined if I wasn't diversity?

Aug 2, 2018

Take this with a grain of salt because I don't know 100%, but from what I know, the sophomore program for MS is a key part of the firm's "diversity recruiting efforts." I wouldn't say you're out immediately, but it's probably a tough road for non-diversity candidates.

Aug 6, 2018

Would assume so.

Aug 6, 2018

Has anyone heard from BAML for anything besides the initial assessment?

Aug 6, 2018

Nope, not yet

Aug 13, 2018

HireVue from BAML anyone?

Aug 13, 2018

Not yet.

Aug 13, 2018

not yet either

Aug 13, 2018

i talked to gs hcm and they said filling up their junior spots is their first priority, so they don't know when they are going to start looking at soph apps. can someone confirm this? it looks like this is the case at almost every bank - has anyone heard anything at all from anyone?

Aug 14, 2018

I can't confirm anything, but this is the sense I'm getting from basically every bank.

Aug 15, 2018

I've heard the same. Sophomore offers not going out til Dec

Aug 16, 2018

december?? thats a lot later than estimates i've heard :( which bank was this?

Aug 24, 2018

I think it's just during the last application cycle for the bank, so I guess for Goldman, that would be the December cycle.

Aug 16, 2018

Where did you hear this from?

Aug 16, 2018

Feedback from older people I know, but honestly it gets pushed forward every year

Aug 16, 2018

Even if offers are going out late this year, does anyone know the timeline for first/second rounds and superdays for any banks?

Aug 21, 2018

How important is it to network for the sophomore program? I feel like I haven't gotten a chance to actually network yet since I just finished my freshman year

Aug 21, 2018

Not as important as junior year internships. However, try reaching out to a few alumni on Linkedin. If that does not pan out, it isn't the biggest deal in the world.

    • 1
Aug 22, 2018

Anyone have updates from banks?

Aug 22, 2018

Nope, not yet

Aug 23, 2018

Received HireVue for MS

Aug 23, 2018

Got an offer from Barclays

Aug 23, 2018

Congrats! Is it in IB or S&T?

Aug 23, 2018

Thanks! It was in IB. You can still apply for an IB sophomore internship through Barclay's Sophomore Springboard program which opens later this year. Make sure to check it out.

    • 1
Aug 23, 2018

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely look into it.

Aug 23, 2018

Hey, I was just on the website and from what I've seen the springboard and the IB internship are only open to Juniors. Am I wrong?

Aug 24, 2018
Aug 24, 2018

Yeah but that's for 2018 and I think these guys are talking about 2019

Aug 24, 2018

I see. I reread the thread and think you might be right. Sorry about the misinformation.

Aug 23, 2018

Congrats! Did you happen to network or have any OCR or anything? I applied to the Barclays IB that week the app opened, but received nothing since then? I'm at a public school target non-diversity with a decent app. Any insight would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Sep 4, 2018

Just curious target/non-target? And when did you apply?

Sep 5, 2018

target and applied in mid july

Sep 5, 2018

same

Sep 5, 2018

Just wrapped up my Sophomore SA stint at a top 3 BB. Happy to answer questions on the process if you guys have.

    • 1
Sep 5, 2018

How did you go about getting the offer lol? Did you network a bunch, come from a target, diversity? Thanks!

Sep 6, 2018

Disclaimer* - I was not in IBD, I was in S&T within the AM arm of my bank. Recruiting process was virtually identical but if you guys have IBD specific questions I can ask friends who did sophomore IB and pass on answers.

It was a combination of a lot of networking very early on and being very well versed in markets and why I wanted to go into that particular role. Did a lot of networking Freshman year and much more concentrated networking 2nd semester freshman year. I'm at a well known non-target in the North East with not much OCR except for a few alums from a few BB's who come on campus every year to help kids out. I networked with this group of ppl very aggressively and really tried to be a stand out student during networking events. I also networked extremely aggressively during my Freshman summer internship. I'd take calls during my lunch break, meeting people for coffee during my lunch break, meeting traders at 7am then running back mid town to work, meeting people after work, etc. just really trying to show grit and above average competency in markets and investing for someone my age. I am a diversity candidate but my sophomore program was NOT exclusively for diversity candidates as I knew a few who were White and Asian.

Pm'd you!

Sep 6, 2018

A few of you guys PM'd me but I'd rather you guys ask questions on the thread so I don't have to re-type everything 100 times. But I'll try to address some of the specific questions I got in pm.

**Where did I work: ** A top 3 BB. Think JP/MS/GS

What made me successful in the process and what should we be doing to maximize our chances: I think what made me successful in all honesty was a combination of my communication skills and my passion for markets. I've always been a strong communicator and being able to express how well versed I was in certain market and investment concepts really helped me stand out as a sophomore. I was a pretty strong interviewer. Oddly I actually enjoyed the interviews since like to talk about myself and markets. I was also really persistent in my networking and expressing WHY I wanted this role and why this role was a good fit for me. I will also say that I was at a very well known brand name firm for my freshman summer internship so that carried a lot of weight.

What was the process to obtain the internship: I guess I can give you guys a timeline breakdown of how I got it:

1st semester freshman year - GPA was my focus. Reading and learning A LOT on my own but genuine curiosity helped carry me a lot. Learning the details about all the functions of different roles in S&T/AM/ER and a bit IBD but I knew early that I wasn't going to do IBD. (I was also one of those kids on WSO since high school so I had a bit of a knowledge advantage). Built general connections with alumni. Applied for Freshman summer internships. (Received an interviews at a top 3 BB, small boutique, and a Big 4. Received Big 4 offer before BB so decided to go with that instead of pushing my luck.)

2nd Semester - NETWORKED. Concentrated networking at most BB's with the few alums we had there. building strong relationships with a few ppl instead of trying to connect with everybody. Many coffee chats and phone calls.

Freshman Summer: Networked like hell in NYC. Leveraged my brand name and had a legitimate reason for wanting something different.

June/July: Completed Hireviews

First semester Sophomore yr: Superdayed in October. Superdayed at 3 BB's (two were top 2, one was a mid tier), received offers from 2 in mid October.

Advice for hireviews: Practice. Practice. Practice. Literally. Find relatively close questions or find someone who posts them on WSO. Open up photo booth, and practice recording yourself answering the questions. Go back and watch your self and see where you look weird, hear your answers, do they make sense? do they sound funny? are you awkwardly leaning to the left or to the right? (I did that a lot lol). Practice staring at the camera peep hole and get so 2nd nature with it that your not even TEMPTED to look at yourself because you WILL get thrown off. Try not to sound like a robot. In my opinion going from hireview to super day is by far the hardest jump. Networking will hopefully bring over that jump.

Happy to answer more questions on the thread if you guys have.

Sep 11, 2018

My buddy just got coffee chats for Goldman 2019 SA. Guess this is kicking off.

Sep 11, 2018

Do you know if that's part of the official recruiting process for GS or if it's just part of your friend's networking?

Sep 12, 2018

That's just networking, nothing official. It helps you get to know the guy more and maybe he could pull for you later

Sep 12, 2018

Coffee chats don't mean that much. Most people at target schools can get them relatively easily.

Sep 13, 2018

At semi target just received an email saying GS is looking to start compiling a list of potential candidates for their IBD sophomore summer analyst program.

Sep 17, 2018

apollo?

Sep 17, 2018

Yes, what division did you receive an interview for?

Sep 19, 2018

PM

Sep 20, 2018

had a jpm markets phone screen for er about two weeks ago - my friend who's a junior had her phone interview around the same time and has her superday this friday. Do they have the same superdays for juniors and sophomores?

Sep 21, 2018

Lots of good info. I have my first super day coming up. I know...is useful prep, but what else do you all use as sophomores? I'm worried b/c I haven't taken many finance classes....

Sep 21, 2018

Evercore is coming to my school in early October to talk about summer 2020 with current sophomores and Lazard came a week ago to talk about summer 2020 with current sophomores

    • 1
Sep 22, 2018

what school do you go to

Sep 23, 2018

an Evercore core school but probably a semi target

Sep 27, 2018

Has anyone heard back from BAML IB? The last email I received from them said final round interviews would be late September.

Sep 27, 2018

I didn't even get a hirevue yet....

Sep 28, 2018

In the same boat. I was wondering if it was a mistake on their end because I haven't heard of anyone getting a hirevue let alone a final round interview.

Sep 28, 2018

baml ib already had a superday on sept 21st or something like that. offers are already out for that as well

Sep 29, 2018

I heard the same

Oct 7, 2018

Anybody hear back from JPMC CIB or MS IB other than hirevues yet?

Oct 13, 2018

jpm ib is done recruiting sophs for IB and MS IB has had soph superdays already

Oct 7, 2018

Has anyone heard back about CS or UBS (women's program)?

Oct 7, 2018

For CS, I was told their interviews begin in November.

Oct 8, 2018

Gotcha. Did you get a hirevue yet?

Oct 8, 2018

I already got an offer so I withdrew. That was before they sent out hirevues so I'm not sure.

Oct 8, 2018

Literally haven't heard back from anything ...

Oct 13, 2018

If you didn't hear from baml that might be a good thing, there were a lot of dings this past friday

Oct 10, 2018

I had a GS hirevue a few weeks ago. Did anyone else get something similar?

Oct 10, 2018

Yes, I think everyone gets them

Oct 10, 2018

Not everyone gets them. GS is selective at every point in the process, according to HCM contact.

Oct 10, 2018

heard from GS HCM that they filled up all their spots

Oct 13, 2018

Is that for IBD or everything?

Oct 18, 2018

IBD but pretty sure it's the same case for everything too

Oct 18, 2018

I don't think so. My friend just received a superday invite today. Not sure for which division tho

Oct 19, 2018

Have a final round invite for IMD. Only applied to quant solutions (QIS within GSAM), so I'm pretty sure it's IMD.

Nov 1, 2018

Has your friend heard back after his superday? It's been a week and I'm getting a bit antsy lol

Nov 2, 2018

He's still waiting but not expecting much, who knows tho

Oct 19, 2018

Is anyone doing Credit Suisse Sophomore Diversity Program? What is the 1st round interview like?

Oct 20, 2018

Does anyone have any advice for CS Diversity Program first-round interview?

Oct 22, 2018

Also curious, if anyone can share any insight and does not want to post please PM

Oct 20, 2018

Marcelo and Paja, did you get first round invites from CS?

Oct 21, 2018

Yeah I did.

Oct 21, 2018

Paja, is this for New York?

Oct 22, 2018

Yes

Oct 23, 2018

Has anyone heard back from the UBS sophomore hirevue with a super day invite for NYC investment banking?

Oct 23, 2018

When did you get your hirevue? I did mine this weekend?

Oct 23, 2018

submitted mine Sunday oct 14th, haven't heard back yet

Oct 30, 2018

I did a hirevue interview with Goldman that same date. Crazy how these banks take forever to get back to us. I would at least want to know if I got rejected

Oct 30, 2018

IBD?

Oct 30, 2018

No, IMD

Oct 24, 2018

???

Oct 24, 2018

Anybody hear back from DB yet?

Oct 25, 2018

db was over like 2 weeks ago

Oct 25, 2018

Does that include DWS (AM)?

Oct 24, 2018

Have heard back from nothing and nowhere....ridiculous

Oct 25, 2018

How long after a first-round interview can you expect to hear back if you've made it to the next round? Has anyone heard back from CS sophomore diversity first round???

Oct 25, 2018

when did you get your 1st round?

Oct 25, 2018

Yesterday afternoon.

Oct 27, 2018

Got invited to the CS Diversity Sophomore Program super day. Does anyone know if it will be behavioral? technical? or a mix of the two? Any insight would be super appreciated!!

Oct 28, 2018

Sophomore internship interviews will usually be mostly behavior, at least in my experience. However, know a few interesting things related to economy/deals that are in the news like the back of your hand as they tend to ask about those. As always, be prepared to know how to walk someone through a DCF, what the three financial statements are, etc.

Nov 1, 2018

Are you diverse? How scrict is CS with hiring only diverse?

Nov 2, 2018

Anybody hear back from dbAchieve for asset management? Not sure if dinged

Nov 10, 2018

Has anyone heard back yet from CS Diversity Sophomore Superday???? (Superday was Nov 8th-9th...does anyone have any idea when we should hear back approx. ??)
