Career Resources
I attend a West Coast university (STAN/CAL/USC/UCLA) and can confirm that both Centerview and Lazard recruited from at least one of these schools for SA positions. Regarding insight, Lazard LA has an A&D group -- I am not sure what else. Regarding Centerview, they have typically added 1 summer analyst. I cannot comment on their deal flow. I do not know what exit opportunities look like (I read somewhere that a Lazard LA analyst went to Ares -- Ares has an LA office that is very close to all of the Century City banks -- I cannot confirm this exit opp). I know that a Centerview Associate lateraled from the LA office to their NY office. Lazard is more established in Los Angeles than Centerview, and is therefore arguably the better bank to be at. However, if you have a strong interest in becoming a career banker, Centerview might be the more preferable decision, based on information I have read about the firm (ie 3 year analyst program, significant "grooming", etc.)
.
Regarding exits, to my best knowledge Centerview doesn't get many looks, it's more of a career-orientated shop. Also LA does a lot of fairness opinions over traditional M&A that you find in SF and NY.
Lazard does primarily A&D. Can't speak to other years but I know they placed their entire class this year.

If you're looking for exits in LA go to Moelis or CS
If you are looking for a good boutique bank in LA with good exit opps, it's definitely Moelis.
Moelis for sure. They grind you the hardest, you also get the best exit opps. GS also does well.
Moelis LA for sure, although if you can somehow convert your centerview LA offer to centerview NY, I would take that instead. Congrats
