Investment Banking at the big 4
does anyone have any context on the IB roles within the big 4? looks like EY and Deloitte are recruiting. Is their pay up to par with street?

Definitely not up to par, particularly in Canada. That being said, I’ve seen (and experienced) solid lateral moves to IB and PE from the analyst/associate levels after a few years.
how big of a discount on base / bonus do you see?
particularly for ana/aso?
typical ana 1,2,3 = 85, 95, 105
typical aso 1,2,3 = 150,175, 200
Analyst range was something like $50k-65k base and 10-15% bonus. Pure slavery given consistent 70-80h. Some Big4 aren’t as bad, but it’s definitely not IB comp. It makes the move to IB/PE that much sweeter. It’s a plan C type of gig and juniors don’t tend to stick around long, but again exit ops aren’t bad.
Deloitte US has the best IB practice out of all of the big 4, and they actually do pretty well in LMM IB with inline base, and I think maybe slightly lower base. Reached the superday with them but they didn't sponsor so had to bow out. Pretty chill and laid-back culture.
Can confirm DCF is the best IB practice or advisory practice in general of the Big 4. You start out as a Consultant (equivalent of an analyst), because they share the same titles with the Advisory line and Consulting line. Pay for base is definitely not at 50, maybe if you're in Wichita, KS or some shit, but should be around 70/75k starting. Bonus is closer to 15-30%, so yeah you're not looking at anywhere near the same levels as a bank. The biggest disparities occur when you reach senior consultant (aka associate) vs that of a traditional bank's mid-level associate pay. If you want to pursue PE or banking roles focused on the lmm/mm space then this would give you great exposure.
