Career Resources
Are you from Seattle? I only ask because if you end up taking the Seattle position, I assume you'd be responsible for your own housing, and essentially you would be paying to intern for free.
Nope unfortunately I do not live in the Seattle area, so I'd have to pay for housing
So that's a no-go. I'll echo what the others said, go for the VC fund in Boston. You'll get a decent name on your resume, learn some new stuff too, get FO exposure and Boston is nice in the summer.
VC imo. Having FO experience would be excellent, and if it's medium sized then it should have some decent recognition.
IMO the other options aren't as attractive because: 1. No FO work with the HF 2. I've personally seen a decent amount of sophomores with no-name PE experience, so it wouldn't set you a part AS MUCH as the VC gig.
Vc
From the info you gave us i would lean toward option 2 at the VC firm since its paid and includes FO work, unless you can spin the HF experience as value adding if the quant work helps drive some of the trading/PL at the firm
Off topic question - When did you start recruiting for your sophomore internship? And what did you do for your freshman summer?
Started seriously recruiting around February-March. Didn't really do anything significant freshman year
Is there any reason why you started recruiting relatively late? I am also at a target school, and I find that many companies recruit for internships in the fall. Just curious.
Hard to answer unless you have an idea what you want to do after graduating. Unless it's a necessity on your end, pay should not be the main deciding factor because things will even out in the end. You want the opportunity that will put you in the best position both in terms of prestige and actual experience for your next step in your career. If interested in PE/IBD, I would probably go for the PE or VC role.
