Presidential Election 2016: Hillary Clinton v. Marco Rubio?

The Presidential Election of 2016 is more than a year away, but the fight between candidates for party nominations and for the title of the President of the United States is well under way.

On the Democratic front, Hillary Clinton is the clear front-runner. According to Real Clear Politics, Hillary is polling at 49.9% while Bernie Sanders, the runner-up, is polling at 25.0%.

Meanwhile on the Republican Front, Donald Trump is leading the pack polling at 24% and Jeb Bush is the runner up polling at 10.7%.

However, it is worth mentioning that the time-gap from now to November of election year is quite large and things can change.

The Economist

Regardless, one day while reading and catching up on political news I came across an Economist article which explored how the First 100 Days of President Hillary Clinton could look like.

While the article itself was quite interesting, there were some parts of the article that quite struck me:

Start with Cuba, epicentre of the crisis that so destabilised the presidential campaign of Mrs Clinton’s Republican rival, Marco Rubio…As she said in a presidential debate with Mr Rubio....In his dignified concession speech Mr Rubio reminded his party that almost a million American teenagers of Hispanic origin reach voting age every year, giving Latinos and other immigrants a voice that “cannot be ignored”

The article pit Hillary Clinton against Marco Rubio. This struck me.

Marco Rubio: Up and Coming Senator

Marco Rubio, a young senator from Florida, is an up and coming politician. As the son of two Cuban immigrants, Rubio faced a tough upbringing. Today, he is running for the office of the President of the United States and is a living embodiment of the American Dream, a concept that is universally idolized and revered.

He, also, has the potential to capture the vote of the younger generations. At the age of forty-three, Rubio is one of the younger candidates. Moreover, having paid off approximately $150k in student loans, Rubio knows a little something about the plight of college students all over the nation.

The Senator also seems to be gaining traction in the Republican race and was crowned as one of the victors of the first Republican debate.

Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, is an extremely experienced politician. As the first lady she played a key role in legislation such as the Foster Care Independence Act. She was the first female senator from New York and the Secretary of State from 2009-2013 under the Obama administration.

Moreover, with the Clinton Foundation, it is quite obvious that the Clintons wield a great deal of influence on the game of politics.

So, monkeys, what do you guys think about a Clinton v. Rubio presidential race? Could Rubio receive the Republican nomination, and become President? Or will Hillary Clinton’s current stronghold on the race pave her way to the White House?
