RBC vs Citi Investment Banking
Hi guys, I'm at a really tough dilemma and need help with a decision thats pending asap. Both are located in Canada, and both have really nice office cultures. Which of these two offers would you take In terms of long term career, grad school after 3-5 years, growth etc.?
Thanks
citi dude, hands down.
to be honest - i dont even think thats a valid comparison...
Troll?
Not trolling, these are both in Canada, and some of my friends say that RBC has top performance in Canada, whereas Citi is more of a growing presence in Canada. So would you say brand is more important than location?
FWIW, Citi just cut IBD bonuses by 20%.
RBC in Canada by miles.
How big is the Citi office even? 50 people max? I would probably say RBC to be honest unless you are dead set on working in the US/NYC after 2 years.
.
RBC CM without question. They dominate Canada... you'll have a far better experience
Citi by far.
Oh wow, Such divergent answers for both sides. How bout for us grad schools?
Citi, though you can get in from either. If you want to be in the U.S., maybe go Citi. But, the deals in Canada aren't going to be nearly as solid as RBC or BMO gets.
Personally I would go with RBC. It is up and coming in America and it is dominant in Canada. Citi is slashing bonuses and jobs. While RBC is continuously expanding and citing from the post above raising bonuses. You have no idea whether or not you will want to go to grad school in 5 years. So I wouldn't really be worried about the brand but rather the experience you will gain. Even if you still wanted to go to grad school the Citi or RBC brand could easily change with in 5 years to something less desirable. All in all... When in Rome...
Van city or Calgary? Either way, RBC hands down no comparison. Citi ain't what it used to be in Canada and Candian banks do not slash bonuses like elsewhere.
At first, I thought this was a troll post, then I saw it was in Canada.
RBC for Canada hands down. I might even take RBC over Citi in the US because they are growing and Citi is in the bottom half of the BBs.
