What Kind of Banker Should You Be

Net effect, follow the link, answer the questions and GS will tell you where your personality says you belong: Explore Goldman Sachs - Careers Quiz

Goldman Sachs offers many opportunities to make an impact. Use this quiz as a starting point to learn more about our divisions and find the ones that best suit you.

Mine was: 1. Tech 2. GIR 3. Securities

Tech was most likely 1 because it was my major and didn't seem to budge from #1 to #14

And ER is where I want to get to but I'm in legal which was like one of my last.

  1. Services (Provides essential advisory and management services to the people of Goldman Sachs)
  2. Executive office (Responsible for communicating with the firm’s key constituents, including the media, investors, policy makers, alumni and the wider public)
  3. HR

I don't know what happened :'(

My formula for success is rise early, work late and strike oil - JP Getty

i don't understand...how can they ascertain if you'd be good at HR without questions such as 'do you like being useless?' or 'you heard on the grape vine that susie from accounts is pregnant, do you: a) go gossip about it; b) spend all day on IM gossiping about it; or c) look up suise's profile to remind yourself who she is, then go gossip?'

Hah, hilarious, I make it a point to avoid them at all costs. Hey, the day where HR actually wants me anywhere near their company, I'll bury the hatchet and stop ragging on them. I'm trying to be optimistic. On a side note, it seems that a lot of traders test as ops/HR/tech....bad omens for GS traders???
Oreos:
'why Global investment research' dont say 'i found it ecouraging that The Goldman and Sachs' quizz told me i'd be good at it'
That was kind of my plan, I was going to put a screenshot for my C/V. Just kidding. Sort of. Cue Vayner/Chan hoopla

Results: (INTP - the architect) 1. Global Investment Research 2. Executive Office 3. Legal 4. HCM .....huh?

On a side note, my non target had a huge presence, go figure. GS has been rejecting me for years. Not feelin' the love maaaan

Took the test and all it spit out was "BSD".

What office is that?

Coffeemonster:
1. Global investment research 2. Investment Banking 3. Merchant Banking

I found #1 fitting (and encouraging) - that's where I'm looking to career-change into while getting my MBA.

FYI, in interviews when asked 'why Global investment research' dont say 'i found it ecouraging that The Goldman and Sachs' quizz told me i'd be good at it'

You don't think that would be my golden ticket in? ha-ha. This sort of 'tests' remind me of the days back in high school where everyone would sit down, answer 15-20 questions and see if they should either be a plumber, a rocket scientist, or a heart surgeon. I suppose it's good fun.

1.Services 2.Global Investment Research 3.Executive Office

not accurate enough i think, or just not what i expected.

Normal is not something to aspire to, it is something to get away from.

Entertaining. I'm not exactly sure how they come up with the results, but my guess is that the school you select and major has a LOT to do with it. I made myself an economics major from Harvard just for kicks...

I actually put in the community college I attended for a semester (after recovering from the shock that it was actually listed) and the screen went blank. True story.

Semi-target. Had OCR for bank sanitation services and building maintenance. A couple guys even networked into print shop.

I put in a super non-target and got HR, GIR, and IM. I don't know how HR is so closely related to the other two, doesn't really make sense to me. That said, those are the three things I am most interested in (not that I plan on pursuing it for a career), so maybe there's some accuracy to this?
