What's your dream car?

Cars and other vehicles has been discussed in the community recently and it sparked my interest in what car is the banker's dream car?

I don't want to hear anything about fuel-economy, best value for money, depreciating assets or that you rather would invest your money. Imagine that you got more money than Gates, Buffet and Slim together and there is no such thing as global warning!

I, personally, have fallen in love with the gentleman's sports car, by the name of Morgan Super Sport.

Bugattis, Aston Martins, Paganis, Ferraris. What car would you my fellow monkeys buy?

Beyond that in no particular order:

1960s Shelby Cobra
1960s Shelby Mustang GT 500
Porsche 918 Spyder
1930s Alfa Romeo - google images for them; they are beautiful cars
Bugatti Type 57 (or any vintage Bugatti)

Ferrari Testarossa (I grew up watching Miami Vice haha)

I'm glad to see Morgan getting some love on here. Outside of a Morgan Super Sport, I think I would like to get a Cadillac CTS-V (practical daily driver, lol), an Audi R8 (v10 of course) and a Ferrari 458. If I had serious money like the OP outlined, I'm sure I would have a Maybach or Rolls to be driven around in.

I would also think about getting one of these, so I can get shit down...like strippers and blow.

Ariel Atom V8, of course I would have to send it to a tuning shop and get it super charged. But that thing has a higher power to weight ratio than any supercar ever made. I think its somewhere in the neighborhood of ~960 to 1000hp per ton. Hard to gauge exactly since each engine is hand made to mate with the transmission.

Don't laugh, but I REALLY like the Cadillac CTS-V sedan. There are more expensive cars, better handling cars, more luxurious cars...but the caddy calls to me. I like its design, its understated look, its American heritage (even though I doubt it's made here).

For me, it is just on the borderline between practical and impractical. I am never taking it to the track, and just want a good daily driver to have some fun in. Given my driving habits, anything more would be excessive, just "bling".

From a mechanical standpoint, I'd go with a 1997 Porsche Twin Turbo. Last of the air-cooled Porsches. Simply awesome handling. I test drove a 1996, and it was a blast. Probably wouldn't be my "dream car" though. It lacks the amenities of the caddy, and I don't want to think about the headache involved with repairs. And with a mid 90's Porsche, there will be repairs...

Loved BMW's ever since, can't imagine a much more fun driving experience than that car, but would have to go with BMW M3 for the first car I will buy as soon as I have the money. Heavily tuned E36 M3 for the track
LS400, one of my favorite cars ever
Similarly, ~2001 S Class

Probably a bunch of Japanese cars - I used to think that scene was so stupid, but now I think it's cool
Some kind of lifted Tacoma or Land Cruiser

I'm lame, and want to have what I thought was cool growing up. I would rather have an immaculate LS400 than a Ferrari... To me it's about the history.

(semi) attainable dream garage -

2015 M5, MC Blue/Sahkir Orange, all options minus rear entertainment. BMS piggyback, full straight pipes, Gruppe M intake, HRE wheels, H&R springs, some extra carbon on the front and rear, perfect DD/do-everything car.

2015 GT3/RS, with whatever mods Sharkwerks comes up with. Weekend/track days/fun. Best driver's car in the world.

My old '88 535i fully restored with an engine swap and a few other mods - my first car (still have it in storage) and one of the most fun vehicles I've ever driven.

That would keep me happy for a while...although I wouldn't mind an F12 someday...maybe the best all-around car in the world right now.

Gotta say, P44SCs are some of my favorite wheels. Pretty much all the P4x wheels are great.

Although I'm a big fan of Rotiform, I'd rock a set of SJCs on an M5 for sure. Also...BBS FI. Light as hell. If cost was no object...HRE CF2. Carbon barrel, forged center, titanium hardware. Something like 17 pounds for a 20" 10.5" wide wheel. Insanity.

Good call on the 930, want one of those too. Would have to do the 5 speed swap of course.

I'm always stunned that some people still don't get that other people have different passions and interests in life. What you want to spend your money on =/= what other people want to spend their money on. I have a huge interest in cars, I love them. If I want to spend a disproportionate amount of money on one that makes me feel truly happy every time I look at it, sit in it, drive it...that's my choice.

Jul 31, 2014 - 11:41pm

I had one of those in red in the late 90's. Loved it, but I spent a decent percentage in repairs as the car cost me. And I'd imagine parts are harder to find now. I've been looking at red Ferrari 308's so I can pretend to be Magnum PI just without the tight short shorts. One of the interesting things about old sports cars is how slow they are compared to most cars today.

I'm thinking of putting a V8 hemi and a new tranny and drive train into a used Wrangler JKU, 3.5"+ of lift and 35's. The over/under on me snapping the shaft/u joint or rolling is 3 months but it'll be fun to lay rubber in a lifted Jeep for a short amount of time.

I want opinions outside of the Jeep forums: I'm honestly thinking about dropping a hemi and new drive train into an 08'ish JKU with a few miles on it, mainly because I think I'll destroy it quickly. Have you ever actually seen or driven a Wrangler with a big hemi? Fun or just way over the top? Or both? And does both mean real fun?

My daily driver is a lifted but sane Rubi anyway so it would be far and away a toy. A hemi with a 3.5 lift and 35's would be just fun stupid.
