Which EBs would you choose over Rothschild London?

Hi all - holding a FT offer from Roths London as well as an EB in London (think Lazard, Centerview, Evercore, Moelis).

Thanks in advance!

Go with the people that you like the best. They will ultimately influence your experience, dealflow, hours, quality of life, and exit opportunities more than the name of the bank once you start splitting hairs at this level.

Be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes.

Rothschild focuses essentially on mid market deals - if you have a look at the league tables you will see that they always do way more deals than other banks, this being primarily due to size. That said, I would personally go for Lazard. I am pretty sure your hours would be tough at both to be honest but Lazard is known to pay well and give great exits

Between Lazard and Rothschild, I would definitely go with lazard. Rothschild is probably king of the middle market. The volume of deals they do in that space is just insane but overall lazard is more respected, with larger, more high-profile deals.

Comps wise, quite comparable between these 2. Rothschild pays BB level base and bonus, which is another way of saying lower than the other firms you listed. Lazard's pay is similar.

Absolutely true. But in most good banks, every time you are usually on 2 live deals. I think that is enough to actually have the time to learn and be extensively involved. You finish the year with 3-4 under your belt, running virtually the entire process.

I was at a shop that kept churning out deals after deals. We were on 5-6 at one time, juggling a CIM for one, a teaser for another, MP and due diligence. Good for the bank since they're getting fees, not at all good for our development. At the end, you asked them what they worked on, their contributions and most likely, can't even tell you. Capacity only allows for so much and sometimes, all you did for the deal was a teaser because it became impossible to take on more.

Rothschild everywhere has that reputation, but especially in London where they have the best reputation and strongest operation.

Rothschild London is incredible both in brand and the amount of deals they do. They are also rapidly expanding in the US (making lots of senior hires) and size of deals will likely continue to increase. They were staffed on lots of mega M&A mandates (Bayer, Essilor) this year and exits (specifically for London) are stellar. I personally would take the offer over any EB in London and lower tier BB

I have an offer for the Summer Analyst position at Rothschild in the London office, I was looking for some advice on team selection.

Just so you know a little background about me, I have had startup and VC experience in the past and it feels like I would like to head that way some point in the future but for now I think Rothschild is the place I want to be at, the transactional exposure will be great. I personally have interests in Healthcare and TMT (I know Rothschild isn't great for TMT so I won't want to go into this team). I have previously not considered Industrials/Consumer retail as much, could you shed some light on teams preferences? I want to try and network a little around spring time to increase my likelihood of placing myself on the team I would enjoy best and would have best prospects in.

Thanks in advance
