Hi , im new on these forums and just about to finish my freshmen year at a community college in northern cali as a prospective econ/finance major. Had an opportunity to intern at UBS as long as my cc gave me credit, but being as dumb as they are, they didnt. I have tried looking for any internship this summer but no luck, so have resorted to cold calling =/ but still nothing. additionally being from a community college, it seems to me i am somewhat disadvantaged as i may be competing against stanford, cal, sjsu, etc... students. Is it a bad thing if i dont have an internship for my freshmen year summer?

right now i am more concerned with just getting any internship though.. if i dont get one this summer, will i be at a disadvantage for next summer when i finish my sophomore year?

Jesus man, most people don't get internships until junior year. Take it easy freshman summer and try to get a decent job soph summer in order to set yourself up for junior summer. Of course, always swing for the fences, but junior year is the one that matters.
Oh, and go to USC. It's not the best school in the world, but it gets recruited.
Or UCLA
Look at Clairmont too if you think you can get in. I know it is probably tooo late, but you were crazy for not taking the UBS role. But either way, just get yourself into a good school.
