Just starting my BlackRock FT application (London) and was wondering what groups are seen as top tier at the firm (between Alternatives, ETF & Index Investing, and Portfolio Management). Is it much more difficult to get into some of them than the others?

Instead of chasing after what's top tier, what interests you? You get very different experience across those groups. Even within Alts, it's a huge variation... do you want to work in hedge funds? Private equity? Real estate? Energy and other real assets? You can get very specialized very quickly.
