GSAM interns

I was in IMD this summer. I met kids from HFS, PEG, and GSIP (I think there were 4 total in GSIP, all wharton kids, but I may be wrong). I don't remember meeting interns in the other groups.

GSIP recruits separately outside of GSAM. it was my impression that a lot of GSAM groups are fairly boring, wiht a lot of it being middle office/client reporting work

Agree with mrbellaiche - most junior level positions are for product groups. Exceptions are on the investment teams in GMS, HFS, or PEG. GSIP interns have insane backgrounds as you might imagine, since they're essentially skipping banking/S&T to go straight to a hedge fund.

The vast majority of GSAM interns are in MO roles.

I think QIS also recruits at a few select schools; buddy at MIT told me of a posting on their career site last spring

QIS does recruit. I met one kid from NYU and another from Caltech who were interns this summer. HFS and PEG kids were from Dartmouth and Princeton. Outside of HFS, PEG, GMS and GSIP (who are all 4.0 GPA's from Wharton), I thought all the other GSAM positions kinda sucked.

Do people from GSAM move to the others after a while? I would think that some do. They're not the same, but there must be some transferable skills

i actually have an interview with gs QIS next week---any advice for preparation? thanks

Yes like futuretrader 1999, I have an interview with GS QIS. And there is not a lot of info available so any advice would be greatly appreciated

briefly, econometrics and time series analysis are two of their favorite topics to talk about. the more you know the better, but those interviews can get difficult really fast.

edit: saw your old thread; client portfolio management sounds like a more client-facing role, but knowledge of the above topics is still a must

PEG and HFS are fund of funds, they are not hedge funds like GSIP.

Yeah. Goldman's QIS recruits at NYU/Stern. I went to their info session and found out they had 8 positions open in the whole division, and most of the kids at the session were Courant grad students.
