Mutual Fund Salaries - Salaries for analysts?

What are the salaries for analysts at mutual funds. Entry level positions please. More boutique companies that have 1 or 2 funds they manage. West Coast vs East Coast

I assume you're talking straight out of undergrad? The progression on the buyside typically goes associate --> analyst. Base pay is typically comparable to IB, bonuses are lower, but so are hours (50-60 hours/week). All in most make 80K-100K right out of undergrad depending on fund/location. Because hours are lower, average hourly pay is higher than other areas of finance.

 

If it has less than a 1B AUM, I can't imagine them paying you close to a $10B+ fund. If you just look at the amount they make on fees, a billion dollar fund has to cover legal, accounting expenses, and then pay out salaries for all the employees, then still have money left over for distributions as well as extra to add to a cash reserve.

People at my firm have gone on to hf's, sell-side research, top 5 MBA, stayed at the firm, or went to larger/other long-only shops. 1st year pay is standard 70+10 base.
