Received a GS Risk Internship offer in their Dallas office. What kind of opportunities will this lead to?

I ideally want to go into private credit/equity and I know IB or anything in AM is much better for that but recruiting didn't go that way for me. GS Risk is the best offer I have and I'm wondering what kind of opportunities this will lead to?

I will either be placed in the Credit Risk division or the Market Risk division but I've clearly expressed my interest in the Credit division so hopefully it works out that way. I plan on using this intership experience and the GS name to apply for full times at GPs like Ares or Guggenheim once I graduate but since this role is more back/middle office, what career path can I realistically strive for to end up at a buy side role at a GP?

For people that are familiar with Credit/market Risk at GS, can you also explain what I should be expecting?

My thoughts would be that if you go into credit risk to network your ass off targeting Corporate banking, DCM, and Levfin roles (i.e. debt FO roles at investment banks) and then from there it will be more possible to move to PC

Don’t have any personal experience with this, but just my advice and I know PC is not uncommon for any of the three mentioned roles
