Sands Capital Management and companies like it?

So I'm a student at W&L and I am wondering what people know about Sands Capital Management, other than what I can read about it online. Also, are there any companies similar to Sands that I should be looking at for an internship? What's the career path at companies like these, what are the hours and what's the pay? And, is there a chance that at some point I would be able to start a firm or be a senior member at one myself?

A lot of questions, I know, but thank y'all in advance.
