Lack of examples Econ Consulting Cases
I received a R1 interview for a top econ consulting firm (think NERA/Cornerstone/AG) and while I have done case prep in the past I have been having a really hard time finding good examples of Econ Consulting Case examples online which is very different to strategy cases so I'm having trouble trying to prepare for the case section. If anyone knows of and could direct me to any good resources that'd be super helpful!

which firm only Cornerstone gives cases round 1
Cornerstone cases are very similar to their examples on their website. The case flows like a conversation and doesn’t have structured pauses like a management consulting case would have.
At least when I interviewed for summer analyst, no actual math was needed - might be different for full time tho
do u have any advice in terms of what to study to be well prepped for the case - have a R1 next week for Cornerstone
I candidly did not get a return offer from Cornerstone lmao, but I can speak to the interview process(keep in mind I interviewed two years ago).
First round is with two analysts/senior analysts - with the majority of the time being focused on the case with some time at the end for questions. IIRC, for one of the cases, I needed to talk through how I would go about disproving securities fraud for a client. The other case was about going about determining whether a client was paying certain demographics less.
Since they are based on real interviews, the general approach is similar in that you economics/stats to arrive at a statistically significant answer.
Had R1 with them this week and was very laidback with two alums. Cases were more just practical thinking/ reading graphs. I ignored everyone who said there's no need to prep for case but honestly there is no domain knowledge/ framework that is useful, your best bet is just getting behavorials down.
would you say the graph reading is similar to MBB level strategy cases or different
= Read anti-trust, litigation, competitive behavior (presence of monopoly) cases that ECON consulting firms do. Go on Bates White website for example case, be structured, calculating damages for a client is big component of Cornerstone Research cases.
- Understand how Econ consulting is different from management consulting (e.g. there is no framework per se but you still need structure)
- Best way to familiarise yourself quickly is to go on Bates White/Cornerstone/NERA/Analysis Group websites and read the cases they've done in the past (as many as possible) before your interview. Squeeze in all that knowledge and you'll have a lot to talk about for any case they throw at you.
