3 statement dynamic model with projections template
Hi Guys,
I am in third round equity research interviews and have to put together a 3 statement, dynamic, financial model that is capable of doing not only historicals obviously but projections.
Problem is, my group never uses these type of models. Does anyone have a template they could pm me (or ideally a complete model with formulas built in so I can see how it works/mechanics)? Interview is in the next couple days so I need some ASAP help.
Thanks
You should check out the Macabacus tutorial on doing this -- https://www.macabacus.com/operating-model/introduction
I have a model of Under Armour I could PM you, it is a rough model I did pretty quickly but should flow through with everything linked properly. let me know
That would be awesome. Thank you. The one on macabacus is a monster. I am looking for a simplified one so your description sounds spot on.
Could you PM me as well? Thanks!
Would be also interested! Thank you so much!!
Would also be interested if you could PM too please.
Would also be interested if you don't mind please.

3 Statement Modeling - Projecting IS and CFS items (Originally Posted: 05/27/2017)
Just a quick question on building the cleanest and easiest to audit three statement model.
Does anyone actually use the roll-forward method to forecast BS / CFS items on the desk? As an associate or VP, would this be helpful to see in a model or would it just be annoying and you rather have the calculations be done directly in the cells?
Attached is a PDF in case you're not sure what I mean by the roll-forward method.
It's a waste of time for CA/CL and stuff that gets straight lined. For stuff that gets projected as a turn/day outstanding/percent of revenue, it's helpful to have it in one place so it's easy to check. You're definitely going to want to roll forward PP&E, maybe intangibles, debt, some equity items.
Is this the standard Street template for projecting financial statements? Or is this just a practice template?
As a general comment if you can't build a three statement model on your own in a timely manner you have no business getting anywhere near an ER job. Hope I never have to work with anyone looking to reformat someone elses model for a job interview, this is basic stuff.
