How Concise to Keep Networking Emails
Hi everyone, I’ve restarted networking and I’m getting a pretty low hit rate. Usually I give a quick introduction of me (where I go to school, major, and my previous internship), then I write a personalized second paragraph, and then ask for a 10-15 minute chat. Along with this, I attach a pitch I’ve made, but I’m still having a pretty low hit rate. I think my email might be a bit too lengthy, but when I used a similar length email during internship recruiting and I had better success. Any advice would be helpful.
Maybe make it clearer why it is worth this person’s time to invest 10-15 minutes in a call with you. Everyone’s time is limited. Especially as a person gets more senior, their time becomes even more limited. I’m not sure if you have made it clear even in your post above why anyone would want to speak with you for 10-15 minutes. There could be a great reason why. Just not sure your above pitch make it clear.
