Desparation For SA26 (Sophomore)

Hi guys,

I think a lot of other people are in the same boat as me, but sophomore summer has been tough to land, and I've gotten to a couple of final rounds in HFs but just couldn't close out. Was wondering if anyone knew of any funds that were currently recruiting interns for this summer (SA26).

Currently at an elite northeast school, 3.9-4.0 GPA, multiple finance-related internships/ certifications, and incredibly interested in public markets and fundamental equities (I'm open to sending a pitch/model). Looking for funds in the 150 mn to 30 bn range (wide-variety, would love to get as much exposure to investing as possible)

Please DM, or just comment on here.

I got my HF internship by emailing local HFs and just asking for a chat (i brought up the fact that I was looking to get involved and learn).

I got a decent hit rate w hedge funds tbh. Most would email saying nothing was available but would be open for a chat. Even then I went fully prepared to those meets just in case.

Id say youre going to have to find your own opportunities, but being in the northeast maximises your chances.

Yeah you are going to get a lot of those as well, I think I might need to add that you need to email basically every firm you can think of lol. I emailed absolutely everybody that popped up, some had 50 mm AUM lol.

I don't know what your prep level is but I was prepared to talk about macro topics, had a few pitches, I looked into their positions and tried to talk them about their reasoning. When discussing their holdings be EXTREMELY HUMBLE AND INQUISITIVE, they've done more research in that position than you possibly could (in the timeframe you have), but if you can see their driver/catalyst then you can sound useful.

The main point is, interns are a cost center, convince them that you are worth it.

Nothing to worry about; it makes no difference for 27 SA recruiting at Citadel CAP/Point72 Academy/D&C/Weiss/DE Shaw etc. Aside from those potential internships, would also (more) recommend study abroad and research (e.g., HBS PRIMO) for summer.

My best advice if you can’t find something legit or leverage connections is to find an unpaid internship you can put on your resume and exaggerate the hell out of it
