Anyone worked with Mercury Partners before? I'm considering retaining them for a search but I don't know much about them.

I don't understand question

Horrible experience with this firm. They are not a good recruiting firm.
I also have had negative experiences with Mercury as a candidate.
I would go on their site and apply to postings and/or call a recruiter who was recommended to me. The jobs the list on the site were never real. It wasn't that the position had been filled, it was always "we often get L/S equity analyst jobs at HFs so we just post that to collect resumes".
Then I'd get calls all the time for IBD jobs in Dallas, or back office at a HF in Seattle. When I told the recruiter that I wasn't at all interested, he would ask for referrals of friends who might be interested.
It seemed they had zero interest in helping candidates and were only concerned with filling a position (the latter is how they get paid, of course). My experience with other firms as a candidate were much more positive - they'd at least type into their system what you were looking for and contact you when there was something close.
Met with Owner and he gave me all of three minutes of his time. Didn't shake my hand, show me the door or thank me for coming. I was extremely pleasant and have been very successful interviewing before although the position I was applying for was a little out of my experience level. Even over the phone this guy was arrogant brash and had zero manners. Everyone has their own experiences but I would never recommend anyone to submit their resume here. There are much friendlier (bigger) recruiting firms who understand personality and are thankful for you committing your time to meet with them.
They contacted me today, and I was so naive to send them my resume before I read this thread... Oh well, not my first time working with a bad staffing agency firm (that is what I call those companies nowadays, not to be disrespectful).
I think this firm is awful. They have no interest in getting to know your job situation or what you are looking for. Ken Murray who works there is the worst. He spends more time collecting information about other ppl that you may work with than doing any real work towards helping you find a job. This firm is completely unprofessional!!! They will send you job postings and when you respond you never hear back from them.
Since this got bumped I'll throw in my 2 cents. This firm is incredibly unprofessional and will you send stuff for roles that don't even exist. One time asked me for information on the inside about my firm via email and said "of course, we wouldn't tell anyone." Having not helped me at all and then emailing me for confidential information, I was flabbergasted... Also, agree that Ken Murray is absolutely the worst. Called me from a restricted line just so I couldn't reach him afterwards and also was very arrogant over the phone. Avoid these guys at all costs
I also had a bad experience with these guys. Their communication is horrible, they are not responsive and they do not deliver on their promises. This poor experience comes off especially funny to me, because it was them who reached out to me. Interacted with Emily Gianelli and Ken Murray.
They're horrible. Stick to CPI, Dynamics, SG Partners, Oxbridge, etc. Mercury is absolutely horrible and a waste of your time.
I get this email from them 3-5 times a week:
I hope all is well. We have a few new roles we are working that I wanted to run by you. Please let me know if they are of interest. I look forward to speaking!

Also had experience with them - unprofessional. Surprisingly they managed to get me a 1st round at a strong credit fund but, went completely silent when I asked for follow-up info / feedback. After weeks of no response from Ken, I got a one line response to the effect of "probably no interest"... I stopped speaking with them after that. To confirm the above, I had excellent experiences with the recruiters at SG and Dynamics. Both were very professional and helpful.
Will corroborate everything that has been stated above. Ken Murray, the owner, is incredibly rude and unprofessional - he'll reach out to you with a job and then act as if he's doing you a favour when you call him back, and that you're wasting his time. Terrible attitude.
Can't imagine that a recruiting firm which treats people this poorly would be able to attract any self-respecting candidates, or that any company worth its salt would ever retain these guys for a search. Smart people do not enjoy being treated like sh*t.
Really unfortunate that Ken thinks it's okay to talk to people this way. Avoid.
gotta agree with everyone on experience with mercury; also have to agree regarding dynamics and oxbridge - definitely some of the most professional and responsive recruiters i've worked with so far.

I completely agree with the comments above. They are unprofessional and untrustworthy, and I would never work with them again. They lack a basic understanding of what their fund clients are looking for and how candidates fit into the roles. They spammed me with job postings and didn't even bother asking about my background and what I was looking for, and the few phone interactions I had with them, they were incredibly rude. I felt like cattle that was being herded into whatever openings they had. Stay away from this firm.
Anybody know why this firm is so aggressive in collecting resumes? Are they just building a big resume book to show around to employers?
His revenue stream is likely 20% placing desperate kids into back office roles and 80% selling resumes and contact information to the black market (i.e. Silk Road Chinese hackers who will one day infiltrate your bank account after you get a six figure bonus).
Agree. Just had a call with the owner, Ken Murray who is extremely rude and arrogate on the phone. Trying to understand a role more in details. But he refused to share information and acted completely unprofessional.
Even 7 months later, Ken Murray has still not learned manners. Our conversation lasted all of 4 minutes. He was extremely inconsiderate and unhelpful. Avoid if you want a professional experience.
Additional datapoint: These guys are the worst about advertising fake/non-existent roles to collect information. Would not work with them

This firm is horrendous. To echo the folks above, they are constantly blasting people, with lists of jobs that are totally irrelevant and likely do not even exist. Never once have I heard back from them in person (and I successfully recruited with all the top recruiters).
