Ardea NY is 130 base. U think Ardea London would pay a higher base than NY?

Probs budget £3k-£2.5k living alone and £2k with roomate for all living essentials in a decent neighboorhood (rent + bills + basic going out + subscriptions), then on top you can add whatever for holidays, discretionary spend, coke habit, etc.

Know very, very few people that live alone as A1 (and even after nearing thirties). It is just so uneconomical, even on decent salaries.

Genuine question: imagine you work in Big4 transaction services, post tax you are pretty much at that level. How the hell are people expected to save enough for simply an emergency 6month fund?

Is there a point in living in UK if you don't score an IB or MBB stint? Because I am considering my options at this point. I feel like UK becomes less of a desired destination year by year...

Living in London. The good neighbourhoods are central thus expensive. I'd say for a studio/1 bed flat is goes around 2.5-3k with council tax and bills included. That's the average price. I've been lucky to manage to find a studio flat for 1.7k included everything but that was 2 years ago and London is getting ridiculously expensive with every year. The cheaper location is Canary Wharf (and it's brilliant if you also happen to work in CW) so you can find a place for 2k included everything. Of course, if you wanna share, this gets cheaper as ironically 2 bed flats are just a bit more expensive than 1 bed flats/studios... I'd be cautious with finding very cheap places as they are usually molded (yes, mold is a big issue in the UK), full of cockroaches (experienced these funny creates already) and other creatures. Other that that, for those asking how people on lower salaries can afford living in London, let me explain. I have many friends on lower salaries and they either have a few flatmates (think 4) and live far from the City (also sometimes in relatively dangerous areas), or simply cannot afford and relocate. I know some people who moved to commute towns and asked for remote work/hybrid, or simply stay with their parents if they live relatively close to London, or just relocated to the North (think Manchester, Leeds) where they could get much better quality of living even on smaller salaries (the downside of this is losing access to the attractions London offers - in this regard it's unbeatable)

Agree!! A lot of my friends were charged 50% increase in rent price when they renewed the contracts last year. And they were all living in zone 2/3 in not-so-desirable areas
