2.9 GPA, Semi/Non-Target, What are my options?
Hello all,
I am an undergrad at a semi/non-target top 40 school, entering my junior year, and I currently have a 2.9 GPA. This summer, I interned at a public finance firm, where I did a lot of work around AM. I wanted to know what my options were realistically moving into my junior year, and what kind of internships I should be looking at. I'm pretty much open to anything, doesn't have to just be IB or AM.

There's really nothing you shouldn't be done. It's helpful to have an SA gig lined up for your last summer before graduation but some people on here will tell you it's the ONLY way to break-in when that is just not true. Yes, it will be harder but nothing is impossible. So, def work on that GPA-you're going to need to get that up to a 3.5 (if that's possibly). Next contact your career services at your school and try to get an alumni directory and basically spam anyone you can to giving you advice and then getting an interview, and so on. Best of luck.
You're fine dude, get your GPA over a 3.0 and just stay with pub fin. You already have experience in the area, which is a big plus in the field. If pub fin doesn't really excite you, I'd try fixed income research/distressed/DCM. DCM on the muni side would be an easy move as well. Just kill it academically this year and you'll be fine man.
