820 emails sent since Oct 22nd

It’s been 57 days exactly, and I’ve sent 820 cold emails attempting to get on networking calls. Of the 820 emails…

  • 123 bounced back
  • 635 no responses
  • 62 emailed me back (~9% response rate)
  • 24 coffee chats

I’m a non-target recruiting mostly at MM banks (few BB’s too), for a 2026 SA internship.

Curious to know how other students are doing this recruitment season.

Let me clarify. The 62 responses include the 24 coffee chats, so the other 38 bankers that responded either deferred me to another banker (usually a senior forwarding my email to a junior), or bankers telling me to fuck off (essentially saying “apply on the website once apps open” or something along those lines). Also includes 6 upcoming coffee chats alr scheduled in the coming weeks.

Fix that email buddy. 9% response rate is fine, but not setting up a coffee chat after most of the email backs is terrible hit rate.

These are just alums in banking? Wtf? Your liberal arts school must be all finance or something

Dude I'm only getting around a 7% response rate from my alum... How the hell are you getting a 50% hit rate my lord.

You’re trolling if you say 800 is low lmao.

Regardless, I plan to pick it up even more starting Jan 6

Why are you networking in October 😭 also probably don’t network with seniors unless you have a super strong connection. During peak recruiting times 10% response rate is to be expected
