Can anyone share some insights about what this business is? Is it investment banking?

ABN is going to go through some additional changes during the next couple of years (possibly an IPO). The division does not sound like IB to me, more of a account manager type of role who provide treasury services etc. You'll start of in the general trainee program, so with IB modules etc and will then branch out. I have no affinity with the program itself so I could be of base.
shipping and offshore I believe are in the merchant banking division, which is more or less equivalent to investment banking besides a few differences that are mostly semantics (many "investment banks" are also merchant banks, and vice versa)
