Accidentally pissed off HR

HR for BB called me at 7 AM (I live on West Coast) to inform me that I was "on hold" for one of their positions. I was still really groggy and asked something along the lines of whether offers had been made to others and if I was their backup (stupid, I know). HR seemed a little insulted, I immediately apologized.

Am I screwed?

Also, can someone who has been on hold tell me what it means/strategies?

Umm, that has got to suck but that just goes to show no matter what, where and when, telephone manners are in order...even if you're in the middle of being intimate with someone/yourself or sleeping...LOL...

Just be happy it wasn't 2AM. BB in HK called my friend (studying at McGill) and still had the nerve to ask "Is this a good time for you?"

LOL

Well I mean it is fair for you to inquire about where you stand in the process, but if you were very rude about what you said than yes it may become an issue. You may want to get in contact with someone at the firm you know or interviewed with and had asked them, not hr

you haven't started work so you're not officially on call yet -- best solution is to leave your phone off and get as much sleep as you can. if they're serious, they would leave a msg anyway and you can call them back when you've woken up. strange that they would feel insulted, but i guess that all really depends on how you phrased what you said
