Accounting Question (PP&E and Depreciation)

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone could help with a seemingly simple problem.

I am trying to calculate depreciation expense for 2016 given a couple of variables:

The way I calculated it is I took Capex and subtracted the change in net PP&E to arrive at depreciation expense for the year [Capex - (nPP&E2016 - nPP&E2015)]. I then added that to accumulated depreciation. Is that right?

I'm also given an asset write-down and a sale of land in 2016, but I'm assuming that is already factored into net PP&E. Would I subtract the sale of land from depreciation because land does not depreciate (and it was included in net PP&E)? Or would I subtract the asset write-down?

(Net PP&E 2015 + Capex 2016) gives you the depreciable value of the block of assets. Now subtract Net PP&E 2016 from the above and you will get (Normal Depreciation + Asset write down+ Value of land sold).

Depreciation for 2016 = NPP&E 2015 + Capex 2016 - NPP&E 2016 - Asset write down - Value of land sold.
