Acquisition finance
Hi,
Could someone explain what acquisition financing is, how it works, where they sit within a bank, if there any modelling work involved etc. Just looking for a general explanation. Thanks :)

They provide financing for sponsors or strategic M&A. Depending on the bank this team will be either within IB or Cap. Markets and work with industry/M&A teams. In terms of modelling, I've seen and heard of Lev.Fin teams running all the capital structure scenarios, cash waterfalls and the like or leaving everything on the industry/M&A teams and dealing only with pricing, marketing etc. so experience and exit opps will differ between banks. Most of the times Acquisition Financing includes leveraged finance as well which means you'll be dealing with other non-M&A situations too. Always on the non Investment Grade side.
