Advice needed

Senior international student at a US target (not well known in Asia tho). Had IB/PE experience coming into junior SA recruiting. Unfortunately didn't land EB/BB/MM MF PE for junior summer and interned at a tiny tiny LMM PE shop in a niche geographical region. Performed well but they didn't promise a return offer since they aren't sure where the firm will be next year. I know it would be extremely difficult to recruit BB/EB FT and I am honestly looking for any opportunities in IB/PE. Long term goal would be reputable IB/PE/HF in Asia, ideally in Shanghai/HK/SG types of cities. I feel really lost now and don't know what to do. My parents always wanted me to apply to grad school since having a master degree is crucial for recruiting in China/HK, but I know I probably won't get into a top program since I've spent so much time on recruiting and not focusing too much on school.

Should I start prepping my grad school application now or network like crazy with IB/PE shops and try to find an opportunity?

I am assuming you need a visa to live and work in the US?

1) Recruit with any drive you have left, with any financial firm. Hope for the best.
2) If that doesn't work try a for a non-profit, secure a visa without cap, then re-recruit later on
3) Enroll in a masters degree in a good school, go through the entire cycle again and try landing a job and visa this time

4) can't say anything about recruitment in Asia, sorry.

Can't speak to China but I don't recall a masters being required for HK. Worked there at a BB back in my analyst days and I think my group head was the only one with an MBA.

I'd echo cyberpunk and say network like a mofo to land something relevant and lateral. It's much much easier to move back to Asia from somewhere like an NY or SF than the other way around.

I work in the China/HK market right now at a Chinese bank that's been pumping out a lot of deals for the last 2-3 years. Feel free to PM.

Persistency is Key
