After 3 weeks at a boutique I get an offer from a BB, what should I do?
After 3 weeks as an intern at a Boutique IB (Capital Mkts) I receive a call and after 2 interviews I get an offer from a BB at their M&A department (where I want to be).
I know that I am not going to be offered full time at the Boutique, mainly for immigration issues, wether at a BB I may get sponsored afterwards and if not at least I will have that credential in my CV (the bank that is hiring me is famous for just using interns and not offering ft/ success rate low).
I seriously don't know what to do. I got my internship at the boutique through cold calling, it was the only interview I ever got, and I am extremely grateful to the people that hired me and would hate to do this to them. But looking forward and considering how hard it was for me to even land one interview (I have good credentials but no work permit and that fucks everything up. I have made a great network and met a lot of great people through cold calling/emailing) I hate thinking that this train may only pass once.
Please I would love to hear your opinions about it since I am seriously struggling to make a decision!

Unless the BB you're talking about is UBS (which it doesn't sound like it is), then you should renege. Any chance of a full time offer is better than no chance, even more so when the comparison is BB vs boutique. Also, don't be too concerned with the whole famous for using interns thing. Interns don't add value - you guys slow full time analysts down at the big shops. If you're a good guy and do good work, you'll get an offer.
thanks @7xEBITDA. I didn't mean that it bothers they use intern (actually that means more rotation and probably this opportunity is thanks to that). Wherever I go I will work my ass of anyway, the end is learning as much as possible and not being a burden for ft analysts. If I achieve that the ft offer will come in hand, in this BB or in another BB. Thanks again, I appreciate the time and advice!
Is tough as it sounds, go to the BB. If the people who recruited you are as nice as you say, they will understand that this is better for your career in the long-term. As for getting an offer, the chances are higher, given your visa situation, at a BB. Just put in the work and you should be fine.
If it helps your conscience at all, you can always offer to work for the boutique again after you did that BB internship.
Thanks @Matrick I get what you mean and that's been on my mind too. As nice as they are I know they will understand. I don't really mind the FT offer now. My big objective is to excel and work my ass off at the internship and learn as much as I can. I know if I do that the FT offer will come, either from this one or another one. Thanks again!
