As an IB M&A analyst, do people in the bank actually expect me to bring in client contacts for them to develop business relationship? It is certainly not in the job description and employees handbook...
Or maybe I should put the question in this way, have you ever seen any analysts in your bank whose network is resourceful enough to make him get paid better or get promoted faster than you?

the question is a joke but i know a guy who made partner at mck really early by leveraging his family who have a lot of people in Brussels at the European parliament. he basically brought a lot of mandates for the public institutions practice.
