Any Suggestions for a First Year Restructuring Analyst?
Hi Everyone,
I have accepted a FT offer as an IB Analyst focussing on RX, and Special Situations Advisory. I will be starting in this position next summer. I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for working in RX or banking. My background is a little unusual (I think) in that all of my internships during uni were buy-side. I have never actually worked at an IB firm. I am a little concerned that I am not fully sure what an IB analyst is responsible for, would it be similar to an analyst buy-side? To be clear, I know what a team of RX bankers does and find the space extremely interesting. In terms of technical prep, I think I am in a good spot. I am preparing by taking an RX and distressed investment course through my uni's b school and a bankruptcy law course in the spring. I am just not sure what my job will be beyond creating a model, creating a pitch deck or an investment thesis, and analyzing credit documents – is there anything I am missing?
How are analysts in banking evaluated? Are there any things that make a strong IB analyst / RX analyst? I would greatly appreciate any advice for first-year RX analysts or first-years in banking in general.
Thanks!
Do I smell PJT RSSG?!!
