anyone else like IB more than college?
hear me out: Of course, i haven’t been rlly put thru the wringer yet, my longest week has only been 80 hours, only had a few 4am or later nights, got the weekend off, etc. etc. but does anyone else just like this shit way better than college? IB honestly just feels like high school 2.0. I’ve been significantly happier these past couple months than i ever have been at college.
Am i batshit crazy? Am I just starry eyed? I see all the other interns complaining, and even during my late nights i dread going back in 6 weeks. Anyone else feel the same?
As an intern, no
no one is going to give interns as a hard of a time as they do the full-times. anytime my intern hands in some terrible work, we often just collectively sigh and say thanks then end up fixing whatever they gave us
that will not be the case when you're a full time and you will long for the days of college
for sure, i do try to ask for feedback and stuff, but ofc understand why they try to give us a bit of an unrealistic experience
College is vastly superior. It’s 11 on a Friday and I’m turning comments
In no offensive way at all but if you have time to post on this forum then I’m assuming the comment turning is more casual slow paced type of work. I’d imagine that if I was in your shoes I’d just light up a joint and start going at it which wouldn’t be too bad but idk correct me if I’m wrong.
Wtf is wrong with you.
i just haven't fucked w my college experience, and i think that's what it is…had a great time in hs, went out a ton, worked hard (or hardly worked), etc and the ppl at my bank are just way more similar to the kind of guys i grew up with and like spending time w…which isn't the same as college. i'm sure if i went big 10, sec, or acc i wouldn't feel this way, tbf
Yah look you’re entitled to feel the way you feel. It’s ultimately a good perspective to have so hold onto it as long as you can.
Different strokes for different folks
This is how they sucker you in during the internship lmao
See I thought this initially but after a full year I realize college was definitely superior. It was a novelty to spend time with the analyst class that wore off quickly. Got grinded like hell at that bank.
It was great, but I like having an income too. Plus covid wrecked my time in college. I ended up only spending 4 non consecutive semesters on campus.
Oh to be an intern again
I’m not in my IB internship yet but am doing a PE internship this summer and have enjoyed it much more than college. I went to a great school socially, but I’m not a big party guy and just haven’t enjoyed it as much as my peers. My work this summer, however, I have found to be rewarding and I often find myself trying to stay as late as possible. Definitely not the traditional experience and I feel like a loser for it, but it is what it is.
Fellow BB intern who has one year left of college. I am absolutely enjoying this summer more than college. I feel like I'm providing meaningful work rather than essays, I feel productive and above all I'm making good money.
That being said, I know this feeling is cyclical, and as an intern, it's rarely in the pits because you're buzzed on "new-start adrenaline".
There will be days during FT that I will yearn being free at 14:00 on a Tuesday to go for a run, grab a coffee or do whatever I want. However, this feeling is mutual between all graduates in any job after college, but I think when I've just pulled my fith-consecutive 80 hour week it's probably going to sting a bit harder.
You should write one of those “IB summer internship is paradise” posts…Junior year as an IB intern, getting to hit the town in the big city. Sure beats your small liberal arts college right?
unironically beats the living breathing fuck out of my small liberal arts school. nyc 4s are 11s at my school lmfao…might write one tmrw when i have some down time in the office
