Anyone else see RBC winning pitches more frequently against EBs and GS/MS/JPM?
I have a friend at a top group at a mid-tier EB (GUGG/M&CO/GHL) and he says that he recently lost a bake-off to one of RBC's middling-low tier groups, which seemed to corroborate with them increasingly winning large mandates across the street. This also seem to be reflected in their league table standings LTM/YTD.
I always traditionally thought of RBC as a mid-tier BB down there with Citi/BofA/Barclays/CS (pre-implosion), but it seems to be leading the pack by a significant margin and punching well above its weight.
