Anyone work in small boutique? (Less than $1bn per year)
I was wondering if anyone here works in small boutique banking and what salaries are to be expected? Roughly $900m - $1b in deal flow per year.
What sort of base and bonus? What are your hours like? I know this will be different everywhere, but what is the culture like?
These numbers are for a first year analyst.
Base: $65k Sign-on: $5k Bonus: $25k Hours: 60 per week was pretty normal. Only had over 70 a couple times and when things were slow it could be 50.
Culture is going to vary a ton depending on location, industry focus, how much pitching is done, MD's backgrounds, etc. That said, it seems to be pretty common to find more chill/collegial firms out there in this size range.
Man $900-1B is pretty big for a boutique. Ten $100m deals..?
(OP Here) The one I interned for usually has one massive deal per year and 4-5 smaller ones. That's why I kind of consider this small. Compared to BB and EB obv
Yeah, This is pretty common. MD's will hunt their whale for the year and then a bunch of smaller deals get referred so they take them.
How many MDs?
We only had one MD. The Senior VP should be another MD though, he kind of ran the show just didn't have the title..
