Is there anyone that is going to be working in Houston come this Fall? I will be moving there this summer and just wondering if wso will be represented in H-Town.
What company will you be working for and where do you plan on living ? Me and a buddy are currently looking for some places. I forgot how cheap it is to live in Houston, and we are looking at the more "expensive" apts.

A number of my friends will be working down in Houston, and they've told me apartments in the better parts of Houston run $1500/month, just like in NY. Wouldn't necessarily call that cheap.

in Houston, 1500/month buys you a palace in NYC, 1500/month buys you a run-down walkup in Alphabet City that you have to share with 3 other people.

I'd say, subjectively, that Houston is one of the top places to work in the finance industry for young professionals. Its got a nice area Downtown/Up-midtown/River Oaks/Galleria and it is CHEAP CHEAP. What do you guys think would be the best place to start out at for recent graduates?
The midtown and montrose areas are really nice, close to downtown and the bars (washington ave and midtown) and filled with young professionals (most of them work in oil and gas, finance and law). And $1500/month for rent is slightly overstated. I'm going to be living in a large 2-2 in one of the newer complexes about 4 minutes from downtown and will be paying $850 for my share of rent (I have a roommate). One bedrooms can be gotten for about $1000.

Well I will be working in the Greenway Plaza and I plan on having a roommate. The split cost would be about $850 and its right across the street from Greenway Plaza. It's a large 2-2 and very nice area.
I live here and I think Houston is a good look for young professionals. You definetly will get your money's worth for space, location is important as most drives will be 10-30 mins. Prime locations: DT, midtown, River Oaks, Rice Village, Galleria, Heights, Montrose, Museum District. If you are going to work in Greenway Plaza definetly stay around there, b/c if you don't have a car you are pretty much handicapped. Public transportation sucks.
I leased in West U a 1300 sf two bedroom with garage and parking spot for $1100 a month... bought a 2000 sf home one mile away and still pay $1100.... no where and I mean no where are you finding that... and I worked for a bb with all the perks of NYC pay with Houston living cost....
