Associate Exits
Hi,
Looking for some insight here from associates who have left banking and are in some of the roles I am describing below. Anyone with knowledge would be helpful.
I am an associate 2 at a BB, decent deal experience, noteworthy LBOs and other financings (realize not as important).
I am beginning to look into
- PE (investing)
- PE (fundraising)
- Corp Dev (would need to be an acquisitive company or think I would be bored)
I would like to know:
- Comp ranges
- Are MM sponsors more open to Associates?
- Recruitment process
- General insights

Life not great for you either?
I left banking last year and am debating whether I want to go back or look for something else. I’m trying to optimize for wlb and earnings potential. Easier said than done.
What are you up to now?
Moved into corporate strategy. It’s too slow for me. Unfortunately, I was part of a large RIF last year and the banking market was shit at the time.
Glad to hear you’re working and doing ok. Ive had similar thoughts around corporate strategy but work in a toxic environment so at times it seems attractive.
Corp dev and strategy varies a lot by company. My biggest worry is longterm earnings potential. Corporate salaries haven’t kept up with inflation over the past few years.
