B Riley Reputation 2023 - Activists are short

B Riley acted as sole book runner in the BBBY $1B preferred equity raise, with Hudson Bay as a key investor. One day later, Wolfpack Research comes out, saying they target "bottom of the barrel" companies and are loader with bad debt. The firm is short $RILY. Would love to hear experience and interactions people have had with the firm.

They recently purchased Focal Point Partners (M&A) now fully integrated.

I’ve heard they have a solid M&A practice in LA catching up to the Cap Markets side… apparently they’re taking a traditional, structured approach to SAs now as well.

Will be interesting to see if they keep growing at the same rate. They were the second fastest growing company in 2021 on the Forbes 100 list
