Bachelor of Sci. vs. Bachelor of Arts?

Is it just me or does a "Bachelor of Arts" sound like a pussy degree? When i think of bachelor of arts it reminds me of an art history degree and da vinci and all that shit. I just find Bachelor of Science sounding so much more professional and legit.

What are your thoughts?

no it really varies by school and some top colleges only give BAs. To me BS actually sounds less legit because unless you're an engineer, the only elite school that hands out BS is Wharton.

To clarify, BS's in non-science/engineering majors I think are generally b.s. because a good school will always have the equivalent B.A. For example you won't get a BS in Math, Econ...etc. from any top school except Wharton (not including the SB's here) because those schools will only have BA's.

Similar question. I am an applied-math econ concentrator at an ivy and was wondering about this.

I have an offer already and I can have a crappy senior spring going the B.Sc. (3 concentration courses) or a great senior spring going the B.A. route (1 concentratinon course). Does it matter for b-school or at all for that matter?

i wouldn't say that mine was a major target but it was definitely not overlooked and we only had Econ BA, pretty much only hard sciences and the school of management got the BS. I don't think it really matters all that much, I would assume that recruiters would know that at an undergrad level BA/BS in Econ will be pretty much the same.

holla_backWhy would a school offer both for the same major?
My school offers a BA and BS for Economics. The BA curriculum covers Intro Micro/Macro and then like 2-3 elective Econ courses. Joke. The BS in Econ takes you through econometrics and matrix theory.

I think it depends on your personality type.

Do you like books? Enjoy learning? Getting down to details? -> BS Do you like to chill? Extra curriculars? Big picture understanding? -> BA

I can do both. I am definitly a creative type but I'm also very good with research and gathering\taking in large amounts of infromation. I'm versatile in that aspect.

I don't have delusions of grandeur, I have an actual recipe for grandeur.
