Yes, WF/RBC are good banks. You can build a career there or "trade up" for FT. I certainly wouldn't screen "no" on your CV if it had RBC on it.

Why does corporate banking (at any bank) seem like a more viable path to private equity than working in a cafeteria? I've never heard of anyone going directly from selling revolvers, club loans, and cash management products to executing LBOs at a PE shop.
I've seen plenty of people move from CB to Loans Origination and then into PE. Usually places in which Loans Origination also does leveraged loans though.
